2009 Mazda 6 Launch Site

We’re about to share some background on this.

Mazda came to us armed with a bunch of cool backgrounds that needed vehicle imagery that was every bit as impressive. So we rendered out the new Mazda 6 in just about every color combination and optimized the files so that they would fit in perfectly with whatever setting the client wanted to use them with.

We also used the CG assets to put together 360° spins that let users really explore this well-designed vehicle on the web. We delivered the goods as usual, and Mazda’s agency took the ideas the rest of the way.

It just goes to show that as amazing as Speedshape CG looks, it’s even better with some excellent backup.

Duke's Doghouse

Duke doesn’t ride along with Clydesdales and never rescued a kid from a well, but he definitely saved Bush’s Baked Beans from getting lost on the supermarket shelves.

Doner gets all the credit for coming up with Duke, and the commercials they produced developed a big following and really delivered for the brand. So it was only natural that they decided to give Duke fans 24/7 access to his world via the web.

They brought us in, and we helped bring in the viewers by taking Duke to the next level. We used the same dog shot on green screen and created a rich, engrossing Duke-centric 3D world.

How closely did we mirror Duke’s world? We’ll be surprised if we don’t find digital fleas.

Quaker State "Horses"

Everything’s tastier when you add salt.

Especially if it’s large, heaping amounts of the Bonneville Salt Flats. Each year, this perfectly flat basin hosts Speed Week, where racing fanatics try to set new land speed records. Where better than to stage a commercial for Quaker State featuring some of today’s fastest NASCAR drivers?

Of course, one of the key benefits of Speedshape CG is being able to faithfully reproduce anything we want. So using TerraGen software and longitudinal and latitudinal data obtained from the U.S. Geological Survey, Speedshape created the Salt Flats in perfect detail, with accuracy down to within 3 meters—setting the stage for a truly epic spot.

It might just be the most horsepower the Salt Flats have ever seen.

PNC Bank "Wallet World"

Banking and fun don’t always go hand-in-hand.

Unless you’re talking about the project we worked on for the smart people at PNC Bank. They came to us looking for a fun, engaging, and informative way to illustrate that saving with PNC is a really smart financial decision.

So we built an entire game environment for people to explore and enjoy. Once in the game, users were challenged to explore the virtual “Wallet World” cityscape looking for sources of money, and then place that new-found revenue into their PNC Bank Virtual Wallet. The more they collected and saved, the more they had in their virtual account. The site proved to be a big success, and generated a lot of excitement and goodwill for PNC.

So if you need something original, engaging and fun, Speedshape can bring it to the next level. And you can take that to the bank.

Michelin Man

A complete 3D interface for a web site.

It was just a pipe dream, until Michelin came along with a great idea, a strong budget, and a lot of conviction. We know a great opportunity when we see one, and quickly applied our pipeline to the task. We helped to design and render out all the 3D scenes, and made sure all of it fit the Michelin company image.

The web site captivated its audience and turned out to be very successful, even ending up on quite a number of “Best of the Web” lists. We give a lot of credit to Michelin for their faith and courage, and we’ll take a small measure of the success for ourselves.

A first for Michelin, the web and Speedshape. Does that qualify as a win-win-win?
